New Ivy Bridge Build - hangs at Windows startup logo from cold start or retart..

I just put together an Ivy Bridge based system with the following spec:

ASUS P8Z77 Motherboard (latest bios)
i5-3570K
4 x 2GB Corsair XMS DDR3 RAM PC 1333
Radeon HD 7770
Corsair F40 boot drive

Nothing is overclocked and it is running off a fresh copy of Win 7 x64 ultimate edition. After leaving the system on for a while, and restarting it will result a hang at the Windows start up logo. Restarting the computer again will resolve the issue and I am able to boot into windows successfully. This also happens when I turn on the computer, immediately turn it off and turn it back on...

I thought it was a sandforce SSD sata issue and I tried it with a different SSD from Samsung and it has the same problem...

I thought it was a sandforce SSD sata issue and I tried it with a different SSD from Samsung and it has the same problem...

Is the SSD in ACHI or IDE mode? Also you might run some memory tests to see if you have a bad memory stick. Finally make sure that the SSD is optimized for Windows 7. Disable things like the SSD going into hibernation or sleep mode, no need since its solid state.

Which SATA port is your SSD pluged into, if it is in the asmedia controlled ones (I think dark blue) instead of the native ports (once again *i think* white) then swap it. Check your mobo manual to confirm colours.

Same problem and the above mentioned reasons are not the cause. Didn't have prob with p67, but do have with z77 dlz. With 2600k. Mine hangs at bios screen, not windows screen

Ever try taking out 2 memory sticks and running with 2x4GB to see if it's memory issues?

I had some older sticks cause my windows to freeze on startup or hang up during POST. After swapping them out it was all fixed.

Its either 2 things...

1. SSD
2. Memory

The SSD is running ACHI mode and I've optimized Win 7 settings for SSD.

They are plugged into the intel SATA ports and I've double checked it.

Have you tried a different SATA port and different SATA cable? They have been identified as potential weak points in the past, even with new motherboard and cable.

On my Gigabyte P55A, I got a significant boost in SSD benchmark speeds by using a different SATA port, changing from one Intel (chipset) SATA port to another.

That doesn't mean the memory is working well with your new motherboard...

Take out two sticks and see what happens.

So after reformatting the system and cold start the system a few dozen times the hang issue did not come back. So I figured it gotta be a driver issue. What I did this time is I used the Asus Intel chipset driver instead of the ones of Intel website and this seems to be the culprit. So in the end it is not the amd memory or the motherboard and now my passive htpc is rocking away!

I just had this exact problem with a 3770 build. After reinstalling win7 Ultimate a few times I finally just grabbed my phone and started doing some research while the computer was stuck at the windows logo loading screen. Well, to my surprise it went into Windows after 2 or 3 minutes. I installed the USB drivers and the INF drivers and it booted normally after that.
