Wow. I didn't expect them to get rid of the B&W iPods. I figured they filled the gap between mini's and the colour.

Seem to be a pretty good price, £209 (£177 for me) for a 20gig. I'd have preferred 30 gigs though...

Fairly lame update, but under the sales section of the store you can grab the 30 gig photo for $300, which is a fair deal ($50 off)

Considering the price difference between 20 and 60 is $100, I'm not sure having anything in between makes any sense.

Toshiba does it perfectly with their Gigabeat line, IMO:
10GB ~$250
20GB ~$300
40GB ~$350
60GB ~$400

I  my F20.

Speaking of Gigabeats, Apple's new tag "Everything Sounds Better in Color" sure does sound a lot like Toshiba's "Because Music is Just Better in Color."

Even if they aren't, I don't think you're going to see another iPod on July 7th as many expected. I think this is it for a while, until Jobs has to eat his words and release a videoPod.

I bet Jobs will unveil the iPod phone on the 7th, now that there is a hidden menu for Phone sync/settings in iTunes 4.9. Or maybe just iTunes software for phones.

With those prices though, Toshiba risks cannibalizing sales of thie higher-end units with lower ones. With Apple's current setup, if you want more space you'll get the 60GB, and they'll get $400; a $350 40GB unit would cause 60GB units to suffer, and I would not expect that the profit margins are as high as on the 60GB, since the 40GB is also a 2 platter design.

I also noticed that the 1 GB Shuffle is $129 before the employee/student discount kicks in. Not bad!

Perfect for the consumer, I meant. ;)

I still think there will be some sort of iTunes phone mention on the 7th, but it looks like there will also be new Mac Minis coming soon.
