They are both about the same price but rio has an extra gb and apple has 1 year warranty instead of only 90 day. Which is better? (Im buying through amazon.)

I'm normally not a fan of Apple.. but the Ipod Minis are pretty damn sweet. I would probby lean Rio if it was a little thinner, though.

How about the Creative zen 30gb for 140 bucks at officedepot?

the creative zen seems a bit bulky and clumsy interface and I have heard quite a few bad things about em.

It really winds down to personal preference. They're both nice players, the iPod gets it in battery life tho, 18 hours is pretty nice

I've heard that iPods get high on drugs and hit on your girlfriend.

Get the mini, I got one in silver for a graduation gift and it is awesome. I was never really into Ipod's and just thought it was a trendy fad or whatever but it actually is very functional and works and looks great. I highly recommend it.

ipod mini
pros
-click wheel
-very well laid out menu, customizable as well
-itunes is not really that much of a PITA
-rechargable on USB port

cons
-battery is only chargable on USB
-cannot stop battery from charging when you transfer songs
-EQ is not customizable, only presets
-everybody has one
-changing volume on click wheel is somewhat annoying

as for rio, i own 2 of their flash-based mp3 players... including the newest forge. IMO it is very cheaply-made... the metal thing that connects the battery almost snapped when i put in a battery... the battery cover doesn't open easily nor close tightly... the LCD curves up so it's a PITA to read... just not very well designed but its EQ is customizable.

so go to bestbuy and check out both maybe.

In all seriousness though, why rely on what your cousin's friend's brother's girlfriend's teacher's dog's vet's daughter's boyfriend says? It's likely just rumor started by Apple fans to discredit the competition. Here's a real issue which has plagued the minis, apparently due to skimping on construction costs.
