It's a GSM, so Cingular or T-mo. Probably Cingular at this stage. Since it's a quad-band device, it can work on any GSM network worldwide.

$499.00 4GB model, $599.00 for 8GB model. Prices are with a 2 year contract, ships in June. Cingular gets an exclusive, at least for now.

I pass.

How stupid of Apple. They could deb-brand the thing in terms of Cingular and open it up to the world market. Cingular doesn't exist outside of the USA.

They're planning on European and Asian launches as well.

I won't switch to Cingular because of this phone, but it certainly looks neat. The interface is pretty amazing. There's practically zero chance of it coming to Verizon since they're not going to want a phone using a competing music service on their network.

How big is the Ipod market in Asia? The last time I was in HK, they didn't really subsidize their phones. People usually buy them debranded/unlocked.

Looks pretty good, with some nice features. Nothing all that new, but it seems they've made everything work together nicely.

On the down site, its incredibly expensive, and although its quite thin, it looks absolutely gigantic width and length wise (haven't seen any specs besides the 11mm thickness).

We can also put the price in perspective. The original 5GB iPod was $499.00 and we know how people responded. In all truth, $500 is about what you'd pay for an unsubsidized smartphone oversees, so we can speculate that it'd sell well.

On the other hand, I'm sure that Nokia and SE are not going to just sit and wait til Q4 of this year, they will probably roll out their direct competing models by the, so in the end, we may see some very very interesting models come next holiday season.
