Life's too short to be surrounded by ugly cheap plasticy things it's better to surround yourself with beautiful things and IMO iPhone4 is most beautiful phone out there.... Unscratchable Sapphire glass, Stainless surround, and IPS 300+ DPI display. Then on the inside it has everything you need in a phone. The battery life blows the other smart phones away (besides a black berry).

With all that said I probably won't get one.
-no insurance, I loose, break or jump in the water with a phone once a month
-AT&T is expensive and has data limits. I use a flashed phone on $50 unlimited everything, including 3G tethering plan.
-AT&T has crappier coverage than Sprint where I'm at and drops calls.

Not that your other two concerns aren't bigger obstacles, but I just wanted to bring your attention to this company called Squaretrade that has a pretty reasonable warranty program for iPhones. It has gotten really good reviews from forum members over at macrumors and other sites....I personally haven't used them but I am thinking about it when I get the new iPhone.

Thanks Wart but actually my homeowners will cover, cheaper and for loss. My wife has a 3GS and will probably get the 4 as well. I'll live vicariously through hers most likely. Just like she drives an SL500 I drive a Ford. :( I am frugal, always have been, can't change.

I am pretty frugal as well, with my iphone being my one of my few extravagances, so I know how you feel.

Unless someone is pointing a gun at you saying, "get an iPhone 4 or I'll kill you," you don't need one. Whether you want one or not and it's worth paying for one or not is your decision.

i would strongly suggest someone keep their iphone 3gs and get an ipad for that much money then next year when your iphone 5 comes out for upgrade you'll have alot fun.

iphone 3gs jailbreak mywi+ipad wifi = fun
iphone 4 and no ipad = less fun

iPhone 4 + micro SIM + iPhone 3GS grandfathered data plan + iPad 3G = WIN

yeah im saying for the same cash :)

what i'm excited about is the total devaluation of the 3G which will run many ios4 apps (and the 2G will be stupid cheap stuck at 3.1.3). Great for the kids to use as ipod's. my kid has a 2g right now - works awesome. easy blackra1n and tons of apps :)

you wouldn't believe how many kids apps are not age appropriate - 90% are baby (0-1) and the rest are like 5+. finding apps for a smart pre-schooler is darn near impossible.

so i'm gonna be collecting up freebie/cheap 3G's JB ios4 for the kid and backup phone. maybe put android on the 2G.

i can already take the microsim out of the ipad 3g and put it in any unlocked phone if its data only (no text no phone calls). which includes and iphone currently sold.

Why should we convince you? It's your phone, your needs, your money. Do your homework and decide for yourself.
