NEW Iomega Zip 750MB

Iomega was once a thriving company until the "click of death" killed everyones respect for the ill fated zip and defunct jaz drives. I wouldnt put my data on a zip disk and hope its still there 6 mos from now when i really need it. There are better alternatives, such as cdr, dat and dvd.

Zip disks were good when we were using 20gig hard drives, with 200 gig drives now making there way to market, having a measly 750 megs of storage space is not a whole lot.

If iomega wants to make a comeback, they need to make a 2 gig zip drive to compete with dvd buners.

Linky for the lazy 🙂

sao123, just the idea that their new drive is only 750MB and not 800MB's tells me that they are way off in what people want. I agree w/ ActiveX the "click of death" made me not trust zip disks for anything that I couldn't live w/o.

Wouldn't it be pretty much the same as a CD-RW? The only advantage would be that you can add and delete files like a regular disk. 😕

Um, lets see, a CD-RW is 50MB less, but can be read by anyone (everyone has a CD drive). CD-RWs are TONS cheaper and probably faster too. Iomega must be smoking somthing if they think Zip 750s will ever catch on.
