New intel processor UPDATED with PIC

Rubycon

Madame President
1066MHz FSB.

What can I do with this? They tell me it doesn't work with these dual core ready motherboards? 4MB cache seems high but that's really 2MB per core right? It looks similar to the 3.6 GHz LGA but much slower core speed.

The thermal pad on the heatsink is no longer a square either - it's a series of strips. Text

umm, all C2D work at 1066Mhz. and i belive the 2.4Ghz one is a Merom, right? you should try it. the mobo may require a bios update which is why they probblly told you that. the mac Pro though, for example, worked fine with the CloverTown samples from Intel. it recognized all 8 cores.

I believe that's thermal paste. Should spread out once you press it against the processor.

That's just a strange config.

Any chance a DDR system will work with this cpu?

EDIT: I have a C2D capable motherboard (abit ab9 pro) but ddr2 memory is used up. There's a few of those 915 systems that take both DDR2 and DDR here and if there's one with some DDR667 in it I'll swap some DDR400 modules on it.
