My question is, do older socket370 boards support the new flip chips? I have an abit bx-133 raid and am considering putting in the p3 1.26 w/ 512 cache...but will the board support it...? I don't need any build a new system or amd comments, I just want to put a cheap upgrade into my box.

No, it will not work.

If it were a slot 1 board, powerleap is making some Tualerons (or whatever people are calling them, Tualatin based Celerons - essentially a Coppermine P3 on a smaller die) in a slocket that are a kick-ass upgrade for the price.

But for what you have, it simply will not work unless someone puts out a socket adapter.

Powerleap is suppose to come out with a socket370 version that will allow you run that P3 1.26 on your ABIT BX-133. Check their site, should be announced within the next week or so.

Apparently there's something coming from Powerleap for FCPGA as well, but I would not bet the house on it ever seeing production

Edit: Lol @ Tates. I'll be glad to be proven wrong, just the pessimist at work here :).

Well I must say, if they DO end up making an FCPGA2-FCPGA converter, they've got one customer right here ;)

I have an Intel 1.0ghz FC-PGA2 chip, that works fine in my old, cheap biostar socket370 board.

You're right, they make some 0.18 coppermine chips with the same heat spreader that's on the 0.13 tualatins. Bit confusing really, so before sending back what looks like a mis shipped item, people should check the sspec...

PS: how are catholics these days? :)

Edit:

So I guess older boards do probably support fc-pga2, but not all support tualatian core chips...

From what I see on most pricelists, vendors use the term fcpga2 to say 0.13 P3. Best is to ask before ordering.
