Well the new line of cpus came out from Intel, before the 6600k was the sweet spot what is the sweet spot in the new line up? 7400?

Why would it be the 7400? o_O

It's obviously still the 7700k and 7600k depending on your needs for HT or not.

That's why I ask since it had similar clock speeds out of the box?

The 6600k was unlocked, making it worth it because you could OC it to easily 4.4GHz+

The 7400 is locked, meaning it will always be at the same clock speed.

7600k is unlocked, meaning again, it can be OC'd easily above it's stock clockspeed, making it again, much better value.

The "value" of the 6600k was never in it's stock configuration.

Ok i understand what you guys mean. But for a none oc user. Would a 7400 be sufficient for gaming with a 1070 at 1080p?

Its fine I guess, but it's certainly not better than the 6600k in my opinion.

The 6600k is clocked at 3.5GHz with a turbo up to 3.9GHz
The 7400 is clocked at 3.0GHz with a turbo up to 3.5GHz

Really the only knock against the 6600k is it is currently $45 more online (not sure about places like Micro Center where they usually offer discounts when buying with a motherboard) than the 7400, but since the 6600k has higher clocks all around, and is unlocked, that's the route I would go as well.
