New intel Azalia

Hi,
I read somewhere about this new Intel Azalia 8 channel sound feature or something like that. Is it something that is going to be part of a chipset or is it going to be some plugin pci card? A sound card by Intel?

Just out of curiousity, will this be any better than a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS sound card?

I think it is a sound codec built into the chipset. As to how it sounds, no one really knows yet until the first motherboards with the chipsets come out.

Neither can AC '97, eh?
AC '97 is a standard, not a product. However, in general, components designed to meet only the AC '97 standard do suck.

As far as I have seen it, Azalia has been the name to which the standard is referred to by (wow, that's some strange grammar).
