*new* Intel® Application Accelerator - Beta

I think I will try it, I am using Beta SP3 in win2k I might as well use beta intel Application Accelerator too. 😉

I just built a P4 i845 system. I was trying to figure out what "Application Accelerator" was. I came to the conclusion that it is just a new name for the old "Bus Master drivers."

Except the old drivers were never discontinued. Aparently, IAC improves performance and reliability on some systems, and has the opposite effect on others. Consider it a "possible performance enhancer" for some Intel-based systems.

Does anybody have any emperical evidence whether this "Application Accelerator" actually works, or is it just a new marketing name for the IDE busmaster drivers?

To me it sounds like they're useful for marketing benchmarks. It doesn't sound like they're intended to be used daily and reliably by us common folk.
