just had one installed. runs pretty good. took care of the idle problem. now my question.

will the ecu adapt to the lack of a vacuum leak? or should i reset the ecu so that it relearns?
the reason i ask is, deep down i'm afraid if i reset the ecu, it won't run as well as it does now. (after a month of idle problems, and $375 later, i'm pretty happy).

It may have been reset already.

When I did repairs like that I usually disconnect the battery to make sure the engine would not turn over or get shocked while doing the repair.

they didn't disconnect the battery. all my radio presets as well as the clock remained untouched. i highly doubt they would know where the ecu is to disconnect.

so, i got one answer to my question. "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

anyone else like to comment on "resetting ecu after replacing intake manifold gasket?"

i would not bother, imo "resetting ecu" is kind of overused, everyone says do it, but the ecu is always continuously adjusting anyways.

that's probably the best bet. i'm just a wee bit concerned that the ecu will "remember" when it was running like crap, if you know what i mean.

well, i got over my fears and reset the ecu. huge difference. when idling, the steering wheel has absolutely no jitters. smooth as silk. there is a tiny bit of jitter in the stick, but i'll be putting in new bushings on the tranny end when it gets warmer. did the shifter bushings last summer.
