New install of XP - won't let me login

I just installed XP, and now it won't let me login.. after I type in my password and press enter, it just sits there, saying "Loading your personal settings" forever, and the pc speaker beeps one... help?!? 🙁 Safe mode works fine..

Sound like a driver issue. Take a couple parts out, ( the one's that aren't needed ) and then reboot. After you do the updates, put the part you took out, in one by one

heyo

my fresh XP Pro install on new drive (IBM 40.1 GB 7200) worked initially without any glitches, now a few have appeared:

sometimes the taskbar won't hide itself until I open it's properties

sometimes won't let me login (no password being used). Just gets to Welcome screen, then a few secs later says it's having probs with licensing, and presents me with login icon. I click it and same thing again - have to manually reboot. Still have 15 days left before need to register it.

any ideas?

Trying to get all bits installed before registering

got a SCSI card, couple of scanners etc

shouldn't be related to these probs.

my XP needs updates? If so, have all the latest - using Windows Update option etc etc

have been wondering whether on board sound update has effected anything - C Media chip

Was quite happy how groovy everything was initially - first system I've built - as worked flawlessly, but now...........

I know I might need to reinstall / uninstall everything and take it one step at a time. Was hoping for a shortcut
🙂

C-Media gave me sooooooooooooo many problems with XP! I had to get a non-compatible update from the mobo site.
