New Install of WinXP Sp2. No icons on screen?!

It's been a LOOOOONG time since I did a fresh install of WinXP. (I've always used a Ghost image.)

Anyway, there are no icons (IE, My Computer, Network Neighborhood, etc) on my screen.

What did I do wrong?

On a default install of XP, the "XP" start menu is configured.
You have to change it to "Classic Start Menu".

Not really, just right click on the element on the start menu and click "show on desktop"

Right click on task bar --> Properties --> Click on 'Start Menu' tab --> select 'Classic Start menu'.

Right-click desktop. Properties. Desktop. Customize Desktop. Check boxes.

that's the default. right click on desktop and choose proerties. go to the desktop tab and then click the custimize desktop button. now check the checkmarks for the various icons.
