I just installed windows 2000 professional and when ever i am burning a cd or copying info over my network or from harddrive to harddrive, all my other activities, surfing, browsing my computer gets really really slow and choppy. I am running a 1.2 tbird, 512megs rame and two hdds (1) 30gigs 7200rpm and (1) 40gig 7200rpm. I installed W2K from having XP on it and i didnt have the same problem in XP.

Have any ideas? THanks

Is DMA enabled on both drives?

WINKEY + BREAK > Hardware > Device Manager > IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers > Primary/Secondary Properties.

Check to see if DMA is enabled for your drives.

I had a really sluggish Win2K PC too. I formatted it and then it was sweet.
