new install and have error

I'm loading xp onto a new build

msi k8n neo 4 plat sli soc939
msi 6600gt-td128e
antec tp2-550 atc 12v
amd xp3200+
hitachi 80 gig sata hdd


problem is while loading set-up files i got this error

File\i386\ntkrnlmp.exe could not be loaded
error code is 7
setup cannot continue press anykey to exit

Can anyone tell me where to go from here or what the error means
this is a brand new build and never had anything loaded on it
 
do i need to format my hdd befor i start?? I thought i could do this during set up.. its a brand new drive and i wasnt planning any partitions... that google link didnt help much.. when i push f7 it just goes to the same error im really lost here
