what will you be using this computer for?

I have a feeling everyone is going to tell you to get a AMD CPU though.

Whats it the AIW for just to watch TV of your PC? The X800XL seem to be a good price right now here in Canada.

Click the CPU tab and read for A64 vs. P4 benchmarks.

If gaming is the main reason you want to upgrade, an AMD normally does offer better value for money, since even an A64 3000+ is faster than that Prescott 3.2E for games.

But you already have the motherboard though, so a 3.2E probably makes more sense than buying a motherboard plus A64 3000+.

If you wanted more speed, then an A64 3200+ - 3500+ and selling your existing P4P motherboard is the right choice.
