We have just got some new information on the AMD Palomino schedule, we posted yesterday. A few things appeared changed, so please, take a look at the latest update of AMD plans:

December 2000 ? January 2001. Athlon 1.33GHz (266MHz FSB). This CPU will be the last Athlon processor based on Thunderbird core.
Q1 2001. Athlon 1.4GHz based on a new Palomino core (266MHz FSB).
Q2 2001. Athlon 1.5GHz (Palomino core, 266MHz FSB).
H2 2001. Athlon 1.7GHz (Palomino core, 266MHz FSB). Besides, Palomino is reported to be able to support working frequencies over 1.7GHz, however, we don?t think it will be much higher than that.
Q1 2002. Athlon based on a new Thoroughbred core (0.13 micron technology).

Crap, if the Athlon beats the P4 clock for clock enough that it beats a 1.5 gig p4 sometimes at a speed of 1 gig thunderbird, a 1.7 gig palamino will spank it! my goodness, the humanity! Think of the children!
