New info leaked about the Xbox Scorpio doesn't indicate it is a new generation

Why would they need to? Th program can just access which console it's running on and set the quality to the console's capability.

Like I said you have a few games that run worse but look better on the more powerful console. That's not really good to me.

Tell that to everyone playing Black Ops 2 on XB1 right now.

BC adds longevity to games. It sucks when games die and dissapear. This making it a lot closer to PC gaming where your library always stays with you.

I'm just hoping with Scorpio they can add up res support. It'd be cool to play the old games at 1080 or 4K instead of being stuck @ 720 or less.

That's what we don't want! We don't want another PC. Plus games don't disappear unless you throw them away or sell them. There are probably millions of people still playing on the original hardware.

because that stuff NEVER breaks! Like my PS2..oh wait...

Millions maybe if you count third world countries...our of how many sold? and that number will only go down as old hardware fails.

You can always find the old system for sale but for pete's sake, move the hell on and make NEW GAMES! I'm friggen sick of remakes, remasters, and people whining about backward compatibility. I don't buy a PS4 or any new console to play old games. I'm sick of the crap the industry is pushing. I bought the new consoles for the games and experiences promised during the reveals. The amazing engines and environments to explore. Instead we got old games with new textures, remakes of a bunch of old titles, and a lot of indie shovel war. This isn't what I was sold on and it's extremely disappointing.

I only bought consoles in the past for differences in game types and genres that you couldn't get on PC. Had zero to do with hardware. I always owned a PC at the same time. That has pretty much been erased aside from forced exclusivity. I've for the most part avoided the last 2 generations. They simply don't offer anything better than PC. Prices, games, options (aside from some crappy ports but eventually get patched). Almost everything else can be emulated if you wanted to. Seriously consoles died when they started doing online. They WANT to be a PC instead of a gaming system. Console players now are really just people too lazy to screw with a PC or want to play 2-3 titles in 5 years that you can't play anywhere else. (generalizations, but not that far off). Basically they've completely screwed the ecosystem to be locked down multimedia centers. It has got worse with each generation since PS2/DC. I mostly blame MS for the western PC mentality that they are aiming for. Nintendo hasn't helped much since they are out in left field regarding how to keep up. Sony had promise, and it may still, but it is fading as well at this point. PC parts are cheap. It doesn't take a $500 GPU anymore to do more than a console can do. etc etc. There is so little reason to be a console early adopter. They've turned into nickle and dimers market. Destroying rentals, resale, high cost online ecosystem, etc. I guarantee that many of you have paid way more for consoles, controllers, games etc, than what I've spent on PC gaming -- and on top of that it isn't all I do with it (and I'm not talking pirating).

That isn't to say it is ALL bad, but as someone who's been playing both PC and consoles since the Atari 2600, and used to go back and forth between them, they just are not all that anymore. I don't really miss them, there are so many other games out there that don't need to cater to them. I WANT to care about them, and want them to do well, but each step they completely screw up the simplest things and turn them into piecemeal money pits.
