new IE6 Active X protection

When you go to sites such as Apple and go to the quicktime section (or more directly www.quicktime.com) it brings up a promt saying "do you want to run active X controls on this webpage" as well as all other shockwave objects having a little popup when you mouse over them that says "click to active this control"...

Its getting VERY annoying, and I've tried to disable it...but have been unsuccessful so far. Any pointers? It was an update to windows recently, and I was dumb enough to let it install.

Thanks,

RA

I suggest you keep it installed, even if it may annoy you on legitimate websites. ActiveX is very powerful, and can run things that ruin your operating system. You'd be surprised how many websites you'll run into that try and take advantage of people without this protection.

Well, I know what a problem they can be, I've just always been careful enough to avoid those pages...either way, whether I chose to leave it enabled or not, I'd still like to know how to diable, or uninstall (whichever is the case) this update.

Thanks!
