New Idea for Integrated Graphics Memory?

I have no idea whether or not this is remotely feasible or even possible. I thought about this while looking at pictures of Gigabyte's new 790GX board here. Could an ambitious designer, instead of integrating memory directly on the motherboard, add something like a so-dimm slot to allow the user to install his own memory?

I remember the Soundblaster Awe series used to have upgradeable memory. You would slightly increase memory latency, power consumption, and costs though. That's antithetical to the purpose of the GX platform. At that point you might as well buy a powerful video card. Anyway, I believe Phenoms benefit the most from sideport memory with those extra cores, especially the higher you scale. Any extra memory would probably be beyond the point of diminishing returns.
