mmx - Are you a Mac user, have you ever used the Mac OS, do you like the Mac OS? If you answered no to any of these then stop reading. If you're a Windows user you'll probably a much better deal on one of those, I recently spotted 3 great deals in the Hot Deals forum:
Thinkpad i1370,Celeron 550/64MB/12GB/13.3TFT/56k modem/TV out/$789, wow!!

Sony FX120 laptop P3700/64/10/DVD/NIC/Win ME $967 exp 4/30/01

HOT? Dell C700/5G/12.1TFT/128M/WinME/Works/1Yr $799 [UPDATE! NOW 899

If you're a Mac user, the new iBook is pretty hard to beat, it's an awesome price/performance value compared to the PowerBook G4 Titantium which costs over $1,000 more. If you look past the Apple Computer marketing hype, cutesy commercials and "eats Pentium for breakfast" BS and look at the iBook tech specs I noticed a few things which need improvement:
66MHz system bus - Why can't it be 100MHz?
12.1" TFT Display 1024 x 768 - 13.3 would have been nice.
ATI RAGE Mobility 128 8MB - I just like to complain but what about something one step lower than the GeForce 2 Go?

Yes, the new iBook will run Mac OS X. Just make sure to feed it plenty of RAM.

i just got a powerbook g4 last month and it was also my first mac. I build, use, support, and deal with users on PC's everyday, which may have something to do with me being sick of them and wanting to try something different. I dont really feel like writing something long but i'll just say i am very happy with it in every way. My only complaint would be that the stability of macos 9 is more comparable to windows9x than 2K. The unix-based OS X is very stable but still needs some work ( especially on laptops because of some power management issues).

I've learned alot about using macs and integrating them with a windows environment in the past month so if you want to know anything just ask.
