New i5-750 Benchmark problem

This is the rig I put together this week. I got the cpu/mb as a combo from Frys, and as I
had to wait for some parts, I have only 2 days left to return it.

eVGA P55 FTW
i5 750 20x200 4.0 GHz
CPU VCore - 1.364v
HyperX mem 1600 7-7-7-27 1.65v
TRUE w/ Delta 120x38 @ 1900rpm
Ati 4850

At these settings it will run thru 20 passes of intel burn on high (56-7GFlops 78c), does 1m of super pi in 10.44s, runs 3d Mark 06 (13,997}, ran Orthos blend for 2 hours {62c}. and hasn't bsod'd once.

BUT. when I try to run SANDRA processor tests, the system freezes within seconds, runs again. freezes... eventually finishing with a score of 45.91GFlops and 98.04Gips. The first result seems very low, but the second may be about right. After this first happened, I removed and reinstalled Sandra, no change. I had been "abusing" the system for a while so I did a clean install of Win 7, no change, not even with everything set to defaults. Checking around the web. it seems as though my cpu may be under performing in some other areas as well.

I'Ve tried everything I can think of with no luck. If anyone has run into something like this, or has any ideas, the help would be welcome. Thanks

The fault might lie on Sandra, not your hardware. I've seen these low-level diagnostic tools (Sandra, Everest, or even CPU-Z) causing trouble on new platforms. If it's just Sandra, then I would disregard it without worry.

It does the same thing on my Core i5 750/Gigabyte U3DR at any CPU speed. Problems quit when I uninstalled Sandra. ;)

Thank you lopri. Thank you Tsavo. I was hoping someone might confirm that. I've never before had a problem with Sandra, but this thing has just run too well otherwise.

Thank you Bob. I read the forums regularly, and in the past, on other forums, I've have tried to help others. I'm not an expert, I only keep 1 system running, and, once I get it running well, I leave it alone. I'm perfectly willing to admit that there are others better qualified to advise users concerning their problems, and you may be one of those people. I have never seen a reason to post for the sake of posting, so if I don't have something useful to add, I don't. Most often, when I have a problem searching through the forums will provide an answer. I might post more often if not for the fact that too many users find it necessary to post negative comments unrelated to the problem.
