New i3 Build -- No Video Output

I have an i3 processor with an ASRock H55M motherboard. I just put everything together, but I'm not getting any video signal out of the HDMI port (also tried hooking it up through VGA -- nothing). I don't have a video card, I'm just using the integrated video.

Interestingly, my TV says "check cable" with the PC is off, but says "no signal" when I turn it on. Leads me to believe that something is working right...

Any ideas?

EDIT:
By the way, I should mention that I...
- Have tried removing the CPU / fan and putting them back in place
- Have tried various combinations of RAM (e.g. instead of both sticks, I tried just one stick in each slot)

Also, I have the case speaker hooked up, but I don't get any beeping at all on startup.

Try looking in the BIOS to see if the on-board video is disabled.
I didn't have a video card (I was using the integrated graphics), so I ran out to Best Buy and bought a cheap one. Still nothing.

I mean, I'd think it would have to be one of three things: the power supply, the processor or the motherboard. I don't think it's the power supply, because the on-board fans and other devices I've plugged in (e.g. disk drives) all power up and function correctly.

I'm convinced it has to be the motherboard... reason being is that I'm not receiving any beeps at all, despite the fact that the case's speakers are hooked up. If it were any other component, wouldn't it give me some sort of beep?

heh-heh...I thought about that later...if you don't have any video...how are you supposed to get into the BIOS? 😳

WHICH i3 processor do you have and which ASRock H55 board?

With my i3 530 and MSI mobo the video wouldn't wake up on the DVI output until it reached the login screen of Win7 on my old monitor. However the VGA is recognized at BIOS screen on mine.

Have you tried turning the computer on first, wait for it to beep, then turn on your monitor? Doing the aforementioned used to get my DVI connect to recognize during the BIOS post using the integrated video. Perhaps your problem is different than mine though.

See, I can't even try that -- my motherboard doesn't make ANY beeps at all. Not the initial one you hear when starting up, not any sequence of them to indicate an error, etc... that's why I'm convinced the board is bad.

I wanted to update this: this actually turned out to be the power supply, in spite of the fact that the fans and disk drives were powering up.
