I was going to say "interesting concept" about halfway through the trailer when I thought it was just one robot going spaz- but then all of them went nuts and it went to cliche hell.

It looks like one of the stories from the Animatrix, of how the war started between humans and machines, after the first machine was charged with killing his master.

In the origional book there was only one robot... The robot became sentient or whatever and that was the premise of the book.

I am very sad that this movie somehow gained the title of I, Robot.

Yeah, what ever social underpinnings the book had basically got chucked in favor of a killer-robot-action movie. Like another poster said, it reminds me of some of the "pre-matrix" stuff you saw in the animatrix.

That looks like crap. The robots look really bad and it looks like the whole thing is just watered down with cg.

Everything about the robots looks bad. The design looks silly and the cg makes it looks even sillier. Eh, what can you expect from a Will Smith movie.

I have the original book(s) by Asimov. The original story is about a robot killing his master, when in fact he died of natural causes. A morality play on the unusual and strange. The robot eventually died while saving a little girl from being killed by a truck. The episode of original The Outer Limits has a nice version of this.

There are a series of books by Asimov that dwell on robots breaking the 3 laws of robotics, but nothing like this Will Smith movie.

First Law:
A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.

Second Law:
A robot must obey orders given it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.

Third Law:
A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

These are just Asimov's laws. They have no real meaning in robotics.
