Has anyone seen the leaked pics of the Hummer HX Concept? I like it. It looks like a fun all-purpose vehicle. Hopefully it'll come with an option for a larger engine than the 304hp V6 they list in the article.

It's a small SUV, probably Wrangler sized. 304 will be enough. Looks a lot like a Toyota FJ though.

I don't get it:confused:

The H2 had a known weakness in Axle shafts since it was based on the surburban platform and not like the H1, which was a street legal HMMWV. This is a problem since that tends to uh... surface under the stress of off roading in situatons like rock crawling, something the H2 looks like it would be able to tackle well.

Then there's general reliability, I havent done too much research on it, but Hummers dont usually place well in reliability surveys.

The H1 was solid, the 2 and 3 since they were rebadged GM vehicles, not so much.

But this isn't based off of the H2, if anything it's more closely related to the H3 which has been a pretty solid performer. It just seems like another generic rip on domestic reliability as usual on Anandtech. <Shrug>

I'd like to see them put an efficient diesel in it. It looks good but another gas guzzling SUV is not what we need...or want.

A hybrid would be incredible offroad. Instead of getting 10mpg, you could get 50mpg on the trail.

Visibility looks really, really bad, but it's a Hummer, so that's not a new problem. That said, it looks badass for a Hummer. It looks like a modded FJ Cruiser.

It looks very well equiped to handle just about any mall parking lot. The speed bumps won't stand a chance.

Neither will a Prius!!

Not bad looking, definitely like the looks much better than the H2. I can't for the life of me think of why you'd need more than 300HP, but to each their own. The only problem (other than horrendous gas mileage, which is expected) I can see is if it's really easy for someone to steal the removeable body parts.......that would suck! Hopefully they figure out a way to keep that sorta thing from happening. ;)

I actually really like that, mostly because of the removable parts, to bring it more in range to hold the look of a great off-roader. I'd remove a lot of that stuff but it'd be nice.
But I still like the original Wrangler the best of all off-road vehicles. Although I do also want to own the original H1. Those go for a pretty penny these days.

It'd be pretty simple to make quick release latches for the panels that were only accessible from the inside. The only way to steal them would be to break in.

Ugh, I still can't believe that they tried to replace the tough, versatile, go-anywhere do-anything Toyota truck with this thing.

Although that's still less disgraceful than the Hummer sequels.

While they're all relatively incapable due to their independent front suspension, the H3 at least has a huge amount of ground clearance and enormous tires. It's better in stock form than any Jeep except maybe a Rubicon
