I set up a DVR for my family today and im wondering if anyone can give me sugestions on and program to use of if there is anything i should install to help things flow better. I built this with parts i had laying around and if my family decides we need a more powerful one, then i will look into extending the capabilities of the machine.

Currently the comp is:
2.0a
old sony viao mobo
768mb ddr2100ram
2 80gb hdd
SB live.

does anyone have a suggestion on anything that i should do to this? Thanks

Your hardware sux. Things will not "flow better"...
Forget that machine, it's beyond its prime. Build a better rig from the start.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that you can't run on your hardware. I'm saying your family won't have a smooth ride.
They won't understand about the hardware limitations. They'll be turned off by all your new fangled DVR voodoo.

Why do you say that? Will it struggle with the actual recording or play back? I forgot to mention its powering a 36in tube tv non HD. I'm also getting a p4 2.4 but that wont make much of a difference.
