The Samsung in the 34xx/37xx is 400MHz. But Samsung ARMs are pretty much clock for clock faster than Intel's X-Scale ARMs

I'm pretty happy with the Sony Clie (Palm version) i bought here in FS/FT forums for $40.00. it does pretty much everything, MP3's, Video, 320x320 color.

if i get really comfortable with using PDA, mb i'll invest in one of these. Has MS beaten Palm for real this time? would kind of suck because the palm seems to do what it does pretty well.

MS has had Palm for lunch ever since the 1910 launched about 2 years ago. And with Sony now gone from the PDA biz in the US, it's pretty much a closed deal

that's too bad because the Sony Clie is really elegant and simple. it does everything i need it to do and it does it well. I'm willing to bet that the majority of people using PDA's just for it's primary business purposes prefer the Palm over the MS Solution.

There's no equivalent upgrade model for the iPAQ 415x. Give me the new screens, more ROM/RAM, camera and 627MHz Intel XScale in the 19xx/41xx form factor and I'll be happy.

Screw the Camera. I love my iPAQ 4150 and could care less about a camera...

Give me:

128MB
4" screen
VGA
400MHz+ processor

Along with all of the 41xx features in the 41xx shell and I'm happy.

eh? last I checked, Sony was still rolling out the Clies with the equivalent ARM processors and all the capabilities one could ever need (wifi/bluetooth, camera, video decoding, etc). Palm's recent offerings are also extremely capable, and still have most of the market share as of now.

If you think a PocketPC is too complicated, then you shouldn't be on Anandtech. You should be at Mac Land or Mac Zone or some place like that😛

Now get your ass back in the kitchen and make me some PIE! 😛

I did hear rumors of HP acquiring a Palm license, with the rumor of Dell buying palmone. I'd like to see a palm powered HP

it's not a matter of complicated. i set up a clients PocketPC machine. it's works, it's basically Windows on a PDA, BUT it is ungainly, messy, prone to hanging, bloatware. Palms run better on less than PocketPC's. My Palm only has 16 MB on board and yet it has 14 mb free, can PocketPC say that?

I am all for the latest functionality and stuff but if I need to scroll thru 10 menus to write down a phone number and what not, that is not my cup of tea,

Anyway its a matter of use and preference, I got past the cool factor of my pda on the 3rd day and use it just to write numbers/calendar and the occasional surfin or pics and find it very convenient

That's because there's nothing worth running on a Palm. 😀😉😱
but if I need to scroll thru 10 menus to write down a phone number and what not
Rubbish. All that is just a button and a single stylus tap away.

it runs everything i need it to run. a datebook and a phone book. i can keep pics on it using the memory stick. i can play MP3's on it from the Memory stick.

that's enough. if i wanted something that could do everything a laptop could do, i'd just take my TabletPC on the road.

😉
