Hello all!

I bought this month the dv7 1245dx from hp at a best buy. I got it cheaper than they are onlien so it was a deal.

This is a great notebook, HD this HD that... but it doesnt have a hd dvd, it has a lightscribe dvd, but its still not hd to match its hd sound and video.. hehehe

My main concern is, i have these microfiber wipes n stuff but i ant to know what i can do and use to make my keyboard not become oily greasy n sticky..

i wipe it everyday and use boiling hot water on a rag on each key.... im going to buy a keypad cover but i wanted to know from u guys first

this is my first notebook and i wanted some tips and advice for cleaning and maintenance

u hp notebook owners out there drop me some knowledge!!!!

thanks and take care guys

I find that it is basically impossible to keep the keys from getting too shiny. About once a month or so I clean my laptop with a magic eraser, without touching the trackpad since every time i do it feels funky for a couple days afterward.

Hmm, just don't eat around the keyboard I guess... If you have compressed air, that's great for dusting out the vents or blowing crumbs out of the keyboard. Spilling water on the keyboard is not too lethal as long as the computer is off.

Another major factor that contributes to keyboard and other device contamination is smoking. The colloidal smoke particles settle on exposed suraces and add the the grimy mess.
