My dad, who is a big Tea Party activist, wants Priority #1 to be a full-on Congressional investigation into where Obama was born.

If this happened, and it was determined that BHO was born in Kenya or Indonesia or wherever, would this mean that all laws signed by him are rendered null and void?

(Of course we all know that doing this would be a massive distraction and a waste of money that would get the Republicans and the country nowhere...but might make for entertaining television!!!)

I am a conservative, but what an absolute joke.......let's get over it already. It is almost as bad as how some dems keep bringing up how Bush stole the 2000 election.......

I say bring it on.

Top priority will be a secret ballot to elect the Speaker of the House. But nothing happens until next year.

I suppose Michele Bachmann could add this to the laundry list of Obama administration investigations with which she plans to burden the new Congress.

Not even worth it.

If Obama were white and suspected of being born in Ireland, this question would never even be broached.

If this investigation were to occur, when (not if) it is found that Obama is an American, every single TeaBagging piece of non-American trash, should walk up to the WH, prostrate themselves in front of it, and beg for forgiveness for being racist trash. They then should rescind in their American citizenship and voluntarily leave this country for Africa to spend their lives determining where they went wrong in life.

In other words, they should be severely punished for doubting Obama, even those that didn't act on that doubt.

And you guys really think the GOP is the problem?

Old people should be barred from taking part in politics by reason of they all seem to go insane. (I'm kidding, but only about the barred part.)

Where did I say they should be punished for doubting Obama?

I was saying these racist people should be ashamed enough of themselves that they should remove themselves from this country.

Why would the republicans do that? They know the whole birth record thing is just gasoline to throw on the fire to encite voters. If it is ruled definitive (as if a Certification of Live Birth, announcements on both of Honolulu's major newspapers of his birth in August 1961, and a federal judge dismissing a complaint in 2008 as "frivolous and not worth of discussion" weren't enough...?!?!) by an IC, they would lose the ability to spread fear through misinformation on that account. It has been a remarkable tool so far, why give it away?

Well, if the GOP wants to make a fool of themselves this next legislative session, more power to 'em.

After 2000 a bunch of Democrats started moveon.org to help Dems move on from the election.

Maybe us Republicans should start a site called bornon.org

Such a preposterous agenda would go exactly nowhere except ensuring a massive landslide win for just about every electable Democrat in the next election.

Wasting time on this when the country has real problems would be beyond inexcusable.

The truth is most people believe what they want to believe, the reasonable ones will usually quietly admit they're wrong and move on. It's always the (no offense to your dad) crazy ones who will keep insisting they're right, in the face insurmountable evidence. This includes the left and the right.

See, this is exactly my problem with the "TEA Party" movement. It wasn't about changing the direction of government or making things better for America, it's about beating the Democrats in general and Obama in particular. Anybody who thinks the new Republican Congress is going to focus on anything besides beating Obama and taking back the Senate in 2 years hasn't been paying enough attention.

I can only hope that their top priority is finding out where Obama was born. God, that would be like Christmas.

My dad grew up during the 20s and 30s and always spouted on and on about Zionist conspiracies.....do I parrot those things now? Start to think for yourself...

btw I subtly edited your post in my quote to make you sound saner....try to find it...

Please no, I do not want Monica investigation part 2.

I met Darrel Issa at a fund raiser a few years ago when I was California working for LA opera. He seemed very practical and spoke eloquently about the state of education in California in very partisan free terms.... I am hoping that he takes the high road.....hoping...

... except for one major difference. As we found out, the Monica scandal was real, it wasn't a concoction of nutty right-wingers, whereas the whole birther thing is stupid. Even if there was any doubt, it's irrelevant now, you can't unring the bell.

Priority #1 should be: make sure there's a playoff in NCAA football "fbs division" asap ;) Then we can move on the other stuff like #2, reigning in government waste and spending. #3 is to tackle the long term problems with the entitlement programs that cannot be sustained in their current form.

Nothing will change just because they change the names on the doors. Two days ago the newly elected were saying things like "We are going to move for no earmarks, no tax increases and we will cut billions from spending". Earlier today the same people on news shows were saying "Yes we are going to look into things like earmarks and balancing the budget so that it doesn't impact tax payers too heavily, but we will just have to see what our options are" .

It went from a line chiseled in stone to a line drawn on with chalk , and its raining.

LOL .. very true :)

As voters all we can do is hold their feet to the fire. When the next cycle rolls around and they didn't do the things they said they would do, boot them out and let someone else try.
