I need to replace the stock horn on my Yaris. It's so wimpy and sometimes embarrassing to use it.

Most people ignore me when I honk at them. I've almost been run off the road before when someone that wasn't watching (merging into my lane w/o seeing me) didn't hear my horn.

I want something much louder. I see alot of people recommending Hello Supertones. Is there anything better than those?

Those are nice. I'd buy a Stage 1 Thunder kit, but it won't fit in my little Yaris. A little expensive as well.

I went that way, but it's not for everyone. It's a relatively high pitched sound, sort of Italian. VERY loud, and must be mounted with the horn opening facing relatively downwards (keep water out).

Why would I be embarrassed by driving a Yaris? I like my car. Should I care what other people think about my car? I just need a louder horn since the stock one isn't loud enough.

My Corolla's horn was the same way. Embarrassing to use. I think manufacturers do that on purpose for a politer blast.

I ended up buying a 'Freeway Blaster' or something from J.C. Whitney. It's a lot louder and more authoritative than stock, but a bit bulkier and barely fit. Easy to install though. Just what I was looking for.

I think getting a deeper better horn will, make this happen even more.

I also think people are hearing the horn just refusing to honor it.

Thanks to those w/ recommendations.

Everyone else, why even post if you're not going to give any recommendations for better horns?

Not sure yet. Seeing lots of posts around about the Stebels and the Hellas failing only months after installing them.

Probably user error more than anything.

This is awesome. My 93 sentra's horn I found myself using it a lot and it was damned pitiful. I felt like less of a man because, frankly, I was. I bought some $13 horn from autozone (not sure of the brand) and rigged them up in parallel. The new horn was awesome. When I honked at people it truly got their attention and despite driving around in a 93 sentra, I felt much much better about my car and life in general. One can only imagine if I'd run two or maybe even three in parallel how sweet it would have been.

I only need louder horns so people stop almost running me off the freeway or switching lanes into me.
