Has anyone read that article yet? If you want to buy the best video card on the market so you do not have to upgrade for at least 4 years it is gonna cost you $830!!! What a ****** rip... what do you all think?

Also I know you do not have to buy the best / most money video card to get the awesome performance... just nice to get the best without costing a ****** body plus a baby!

I think you need to calm down and read the article.

🙂

Don't worry, game developers won't push gamer hardware spending beyond its limits.

lol, good luck with that.

NV has no competition on the high end market, they are pricing at what the market tolerates, people will buy them regardless, and they will turn a profit. It's pretty simple if you think about it.

There is a 20K diamond encrusted shift knob available for Bentley's, it's a $150,000 option. Does it help you shift faster? No, but you can tell your friends that you have a $150,000 shift knob in your $350,000 car.

This is the same mentality that some people have with computer parts, it's an image thing and to some people that matters more than anything else.

There are no components which will survive in a 'high end' system for four years. Even after one or two years your expensive card and processor will be distinctly mainstream. A good reason not to spend that money in the first place IMO - just get it after it drops a bit.

Just buy a vastly cheaper GTX, OC it, and you've got the same-performing card. 😉

The 8800U is a complete and utter waste of money, according to AT's review. I agree whole heartedly with it too. As they point out, there are plenty of factory OC'd GTXs that are with a few percent of the Ultra, for 200 dollars less money.

Only a complete moron would spend money on an 8800 Ultra. Talk about arrogance in the Nvidia camp.

I just hope this isn't what we have to look forward to if AMD/ATI bow out of the discrete GPU market after the R600. This would be a very bad thing for PC gaming in general.
