Hi, a coworker of mine sent me to this site because he found all the info helpful.
I'm basically trying to redo a "budget" system.. so it will do what I do better.
my computer user revolves mainly around music creation and playing massively multiplayer rpgs. I don't do the FPS thing too much due to crappy internet.
right now I am currently playing. Final Fantasy XI, Everquest 2, and City of Heroes. I'd like to be able to up my system so I can max out City of Heroes and possibly EQ2 or at least on high settings.
some future games I may try and would love to be able to run at least on moderate settings are:
Warhammer Online
Vanguard
Age of Conan
Chronicles of Spellborn
FURY
Heroes Journey
some of the Call of Duty Games.
currently.. I am running a (please don't laugh..)
Intel Celery D processor 2.3 ghz
1gig pc3200 ram
ATI Radeon 9600 pro 128mb AGP card
windows xp
I can play FFXI on max, WoW on defaults and pretty well on high settings, City of Heroes plays with some sluggishness on defaults and plays smooth on mid to low settings, and EQ2 plays smooth on low as well.
I am automatically replacing the motherboard/ram/cpu. But before I get to that. I want to pick a video card to go in it.
Keep in mind that I am on a massive budget.. I have several in mind already.. here they are.
Nvidia 8400
Nvidia 8500gt
Nvidia 8600gs or gt
Nvidia 7900gt
Nvidia 7600gt
I have used ATI in the past, but not sure what the equivalents are. If I can get a better value, I'm not opposed to using ATI.
Like I said, I don't do massive gaming. But with all these choices, and just odd reviews on the different cards.. I don't know which one will do what I want it to for the least amount of money possible.
