took a bit of extra work but i guess i got it in ok. it works at any rate 🙂


Pic - didn't realize it until after i loaded the pic to my pc that the HU is full of smudges...oh well.

Feuer, nothing else to report really. its installed and works. i tested it with various things - FM radio, cd, aux in - sounds great (even though i still have factory speakers). it does sound a little better than the factory head unit. maybe because of the EQ?

Looks nice and clean.. not very tacky like most HU's. I only wish I could find one with a green backlight.

thanks guys. 1st time i ever installed a head unit. only had to get help with the wiring harness and that was only because i didn't have the proper tools and equipment to put it together.

I installed my first HU this year. Actually ended up doing two installs because I didn't like the Pioneer I got. Ended up with an Alpine and am much happier.

My Alpine's backlight can be changed to various colors, including green.

yep, 1st one. i was kind of scared but i have a friend at work who has done it multiple times before so i knew if i got in a jam he would help me out. he told me about how easy it was and that really relieved some of the nervousness. it is pretty simple unless you have some kind of weird car or something.

yeah, they were all silvery in color. i didn't look at them too much since none of them in my price range had the front aux in port. thats the whole reason i changed my HU.

My old Pioneer Premier DEH-750MP had green LEDs and it was an awesome headunit. My new 8600MP is blue and it doesn't match. 🙁 Only reason I replaced my 750 was because I got the 8600 for $160 a year and a half ago.

So where did you finally buy it at and how much ??

The hardest part about instally car stereo these days is taking out the old head unit....evreything else is easy.
