New HDD SATA or IDE

Hi I?m going to treat myself a new WD 320gb hdd and was wondering if I should get the SATA over the cheaper IDE. I?m on a tight budget and this drive seems to offer great storage size for the price ($208 AUD). It?s going to be used as a storage drive and I may put Linux on there. The computer will be used as file server as well as general usage. My only reason for thinking of going with SATA is if I get a new pc it may not have IDE and I might therefore not be able to use the HDD again which would be a shame because of its great capacity.
