New HDD: 2MB buffer w/ 8.5 ms access time or 8MB buffer w/9.4 ms access time?

This place is a lot busier this time at night (albeit still not very) so I'm going to post my question here instead of Hardware. Mods, feel free to lock this but please wait until I get a few replies. Thanks.

So, as the title indicates, my question is whether to purchase the HDD with an 8MB buffer w/8.5 ms access time or a HDD with a 2MB buffer w/9.4 ms access time. Both HDD are made by Maxtor BTW.

So which way is it?

I'm assuming either your title is correct or you don't understand access times (that lower is better).

Personally I'd go for a smaller drive & get both the 8 mb cache and faster access times. Why sacrifice one when you can have both at the cost of space (which is better off suited in a cheap, slow but very large HD)?

get the cheaper drive unless you are rich, in which case you should get two of the more expensive drive
