Hi, I recently installed a new HD in my windows 7 PC upon receiving some warnings and a bsod crash attributed to a hd failure.
My old HD could still function for hours on end and only gave me problems when I ran a specific game. In fact, it had been running for over 24 hours before I turned my PC off to attempt to replace the HD.
My old HD is a Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB. The replacement is a WD Caviar Black 1TB.
When I added the new HD and connected it, I was given a boot disk drive failure message which prompted me to insert a system disk. Upon looking through the boot order, I could not find neither the old nor the new HD, although it would recognize my CD drive. When I opened the BIOS, the only thing that showed up in the boot order were bootable add on cards.
Next, I swapped cables and sata ports and still ran into the same problem.
Finally, even after resetting my CMOS, I still have the same problem. Does anyone knom of how to potentiallyrics solve this issue?
Also, if I have no choice but to reinstall windows on my new HD, would 8 still he able to move data from the old HD on to my new ome?
Thanks for your help.
