Got a new HD an 80 gig WD .. now I can't even hear my hd anymore :)

Geez it takes a lot of time to partition 80 gigs of hard drive ......

I went for WD after I looked at the IBM website and discovered that (1) There's no advance return option listed and (2) It got eaten by Hitachi?

Is there no advance return for Hitachi/IBM or do I just need to call them up and whine at them?

Also has IBM always been Hitachi anyway or is this something new?

Hi,

I'm not sure what you mean by "advance return". But failing an RMA/tech support email address then - yes - I think the only way is to get an RMA is to ring them. Hitachi recently bought a controlling stake in IBM's disk business with a view to future full aquisition, which is why you're getting redirected to the new IBM/Hitachi site. Before this it was only IBM.

Good luck,

Andy

No more advance return, u have to ship your broken drive back to them for repair, then they will ship one back if they have it in stock. The RMA sucks now. thats why i went the WD route also.
