My new Seagate 160 gh ATA 100 transfers data at about 1/3 the normal rate. OS in XP Home SP2 and Intel 850 IDE chip with update for large HDs.
Seagate wants me to buy a 48-bit addressing card.
Any idess???

What mode does the BIOS say the drive is in? Must be running in PIO mode. See if you can manually configure the drive in BIOS, you must have LBA and UDMA enabled.
