New HD, best way to transfer info?

Hi, i just got a new harddrive for my computer, and i was wondering what the best way would be to transfer my info to the other comp. I have a lot of classes and essays and files on my comp that I cannot lose, possibly more than I can keep track of. So I was wondering if it is in anyway possible to just transfer info from one hdd to another one.

If not, or if its too complicated, what would you suggest as the best way? I do have a cdr, but would rather not go filling up cd's if i dont need to.

Thankyou for your help.

If it's a retail drive, use the disk to disk copy utility on the included floppy or cdrom. If not retail, you can download the copy utility from the manufacturer's website.
