New hard music that doesn't suck?

I need some really aggressive music and can't find anything that's good- most of the "nu-metal" people sell out and release bad pearl jam ripoffs, oddly enough.. Any recent band I should listen to? I'm not really into hard music but it helps me write and workout (and I've been listening to the first Korn album a bit too often, I need some variety).

The only hard stuff I've got recently is Sevendust - Seasons (although they're starting to get a bit formulaic) and Killswitch Engage - Alive or Just Breathing. But like you said, it's hard to find good new stuff. I still listen to a lot of old Fear Factory, Meshuggah, In Flames, etc.

Machine Head - Probably one of my favorite bands
Fear Factory
Soul Fly
Soil
Hatebreed
Clutch
Probot
Nothingface

Those are some of my favorite hard rock/metal bands.

Whether music "sucks" or not is a matter of personal opinion. 10 different people can give you 10 different answers, so really, find out for yourself instead of relying on other people's opinions. After all, ultimately your opinion that counts.

Element Eighty <-- Awesome
Three Days Grace (not too hard, not too light)
Simon Says (if you can find it)
Sinch
Seether
Drycell
Damageplan
Chevelle

Meh. Most of those are so overplayed and sound the same. Damage plan. Trust company. Shinedown. I just turn the channel when I hear them.

I'm just trying to get some leads, I'll make up my own mind though 🙂

I like Static-X but I would recommend going old school and get some Pantera, Sepultura, Ministry, Helmet, Quicksand or Biohazard.

Chaos A.D was such a kick ass album.

Roots is a very cool album - I should dust off my copy...

vi-edit: machine head practices in the same building as my band. we hear them pounding every now and then when they're not on tour. they are a seriously polished live band.

MustISO: Simon Says played my high school back in the day. We all thought we'd died and gone to heaven. No one knew who they were, but we were like "wait... there's a rock band... playing... at our school? at lunch break? aaaaaaiiiiieeee!" They had a strong live show back then, I don't know if they still do or not.

if you want something really different but totally manic and aggressive, check out the blood brothers.

Awesome!! They've never played within 4 hours of where I live so I've never had a chance to make one of their concerts. I can't help but think they would be insane live.
