New Hard Drive Soon

My HDD is starting to make clicky noises that I've never heard before. I think it's time for a new one.

How much performance difference will 640 GB get me over 500, how much performance for 1TB over 640GB? In an ideal world, I could afford an SSD, but as you know, this is not the best of all possible worlds.

My current usage scenario doesn't call for more than about 200GB space (which is what I have now), and even if I started getting excited about having a bunch of movies, it seems unlikely that I would fill up a 500GB drive. So the issue is just whether performance differences would make it worth it to me to get a larger drive.

The Samsung F3 (500g platter design) drives are faster than last gens Western Digital VelociRaptors. The 500g model linked here is currently the best 500g drive to get and only 54$ Samsung also has this in a 1Tb version (2 500g platters) and costs a mere 89$ link
