I have only used ide hard drives and my question is do i have to do anything while installing windows for a sata hard drive. I ask this beacuse after i installed windows all was good but a night of prime 95 (got a new cpu to burn in) i got a blue screen. when restarting the computer i got a read disc error so i reinsalled windows again. After a reboot on the new install i got a message system file something or other is missing windows can't boot. So i put my old ide hard drive ran prime all night and no problems. So would u say the new hard drive is broken??

specs

amd 4200
1gb of partiot
neo platium 2
sata raptor 74gb
segate ide 120gb
geforce 6800gt

Dont know about your Neo mobo, but with many sata drives you need to install a third party driver (F6 during Win install) and doing so with either a floppy or cd. Some mobo manufacturers supply this floppy/cd and some don't. If not supplied with your mobo, then dnld the proper driver and save to a floppy/cd. On WinXP install hit F6 when it asks if you have a third party device/driver you need to install. When its time, Windows will ask you to install it. Have not done this in a while so someone correct me if I am wrong plz.

F6 is for third party driver setup (ie. promise, via, etc...) Might be for raid too, I dont know, I dont use raid. Welcome, by the way, to Anand TimeBomb.:)
