New hard drive not showing up?

I got a 500gb Seagate recently to add to my main PC. I hooked it up fine, power cable + SATA cable into the SATA2 slot on the mobo (1 is taken by the main hard drive of course). I booted the PC and it popped up the 'Found new hardware' bubble and then popped up one with the hard drive model in it. Sounds like it works great... but it isn't in 'My Computer.' Do I need to do something else?

Is that SATA2 slot enabled in the bios?
Are you sure it is slot 2 and not another slot?

You may need to initialize and format the drive.

right-click My Computer
select Manage
select Disk Management
select the drive in the bottom diagram
follow the wizard's directions

Hmm, I'll have to check the BIOS when I get home. I know it's in that slot on the mobo, though.

Edit: And thank you.

It does not have to be in the SATA2 slot as long as whatever slot it is in is enabled in the bios.
I think the problem is the drive needs to be initialized and formatted.
Do not make it a dynamic drive, Windows will probably ask if you want to. This just creates unnecessary hassle.

You are welcome. I hope this helps.

Right Click My Computer -> Manage -> Storage -> Disk Manager
You might need to format it and assign a drive letter to it.
