hello all,
I recently hooked up a Seagate ST3200822A 200GB barracuda to my system and windows xp has trouble detecting it as a 200GB hard drive. When I check under Disk Management it says the drive is 128GB for some reason. I have this drive hooked up to a Promise ata-100 ide controller along with a Western Digital drive but it has no troubles seeing that one. Here's my specs:
asus p4p800 deluxe
intel p4 2.6ghz 800fsb
2x512 corsair xms pc3200
promise ata-100 ide controller
the following hd's and cd/dvd-roms are connected to the mobo's ide channels:
maxtor 60gb 7200 rpm
wd 27.3gb 7200 rpm
toshiba 16x dvd-rom
nec 8x dvd-rw 2510a
i've connected to the promise controller:
wd 120gb 7200 rpm
seagate 200gb 7200 rpm barracuda
using windows xp pro (w/ sp2 installed)
mobo bios is revision 1007 (newest on asus' site is 1017 so I haven't updated bios yet)
I'd like to save updating bios as a last option because other than this problem the system has been pretty much stable to my liking. Anyways, any suggestions are gladly welcome. Thanks for any input.
