I got a new 200 GB Maxtor hard drive the other day and I already have 2 120GB WDs that I was using. I have Windows XP pro on one of the 120s and I want to move it to the new drive so I can run the 2 120 GB drives as a RAID 0 Array. I tried using the Maxtor MaxBlast software to copy it, but it missed 4 files in its copy and I can't get it to work in boot mode, so I can't try that. I also have tried to do a "repair install" of XP on the new drive, but it doesn't acknowledge that the new drive (an image of the old windows one) has windows on it...

Any ideas?

I believe maxtor comes with software (maxblast) that will do this for you and best of all its free :).

As I said before, I used the MaxBlast software and it didn't work. I did get Acronis True Image 8 to work well though, so thanks guys.

I wouldn't touch that MaxBlast software with someone else's computer. That sh1t has ruined so many drives for me...

I'd grab a copy of ghost or true image. Make an image and burn it to a dvd for future restores as well.

EDIT: Now I'm guilty of not reading the OP's posts. Glad TI worked for you.

Go Acronis! Have it auto-create the bootable CD, use it and select CLONE DISK. Do the cloning operation in Manual mode. It's a piece of cake.
