New Hard drive Digital Camcorders

I'm in the market for a new camcorder and I don't know what would be best out of these 3 formats

Mini DV (the oldest by now)
DVD ( Not too happy with recording times per disc)
Hard drive (not familiar, but looks appealing)

Any suggestions?

Doesn't the HD stand for High Definition in HD camcorders?

I meant Hard Drive camcorders, not high definition

they compress to mpeg2 on the fly...they are ok...i think they all transfer via usb too
