New Halo 3 Screen shots for Xbox360

While the res isn't the best, the graphics still look just like any old halo game w/higher res textures. That's just my initial impression, but I'm sure the game will still be great.

<--- waits for all the "halo sucks" and "fps on console is for losers" comments from the l33t pc guys.

It looks decent from those shots and you have to consider the amount of information displayed in a game like this.

The problem with next-gen, HD titles with cinematic effects is that screenshots don't really do them justice. You can't really judge until you've seen it live running at its native res on a screen. I'm a LOT more concerned with framerate on the Xbox 360 (will Halo 3 manage full 60fps without choppiness?) than I am with how it looks in screenshots.

That said, DirectX 10 games will look better. I remember last year when the Xbox 360 was launching and the Sony hype machine was running full strength--I told everyone on these forums that by the time PS3 launched, the best PC graphics would still be one generation behind and wouldn't be affordable compared to consoles. Well guess what--I was WRONG! Yeah, I said it! Pick up a decent C2D and a single 7900xt or x1950xtx and you're on par with what Xbox 360 and PS3 can do. SLI will do you better, and the 8800 series will be a generation ahead of the consoles. I'm waiting to see what developers can do with this power--Crysis is just the tip of the iceberg.

I swear one of those scenes looks like it's out of Halo 1, and apparently Bungie's coloring this one more like Halo 1 and less like Halo 2. Considering Halo 2 pretty much had no color, that's a good thing 😛

So? Those are all just prerendered shots. No different than the prerendered ones of MC dual wielding plasma pistols in the first shots of Halo 2 that came out, which in no way indicated what the final game even came close to looking like.

What kind of idiot uses a digital camera to take shots of a magazine? They don't have a flatbed scanner anywhere?

Sweet! Honestly, you can't judge a game based on stills. I venture to say that Halo 3 will be the biggest title to hit Xbox 360. More people are going to buy the 360 just for that game alone.

BTW, my friends and I still play Halo 1 multiplayer for the PC. At the highest resolution the graphics are excellent especially the outside scenes.

one of the pictures looks like its from halo 1 and maybe a stage in halo 2. I can't remember.

I dunno what language that is, but sure this isn't some preview + retrospective piece all in one?

Underwhelming indeed
Underwhelming
New Weapons:
*Spiker: the weapon of choice for brutes.
*Spartan Laser: An anti-veichle weapon, fires a red laser that pretty much destroys any veichle that is hit.

New Veichle:
*Moongoose: The ATV that was supposed to be in Halo 2. It carries 2 people and it doesn't have any weapons so it's mainly a means of getting from point A to point B as fast as possible."

from gamefaqs
Swedish magazine level has had the chance to play halo 3 in multiplayer and there are 3 levels which is revealed,
Valhalla = blood gulch, High Ground = Zanzibar, Snowbound = Frost bite.

New vehicle - Mongoose, mostly for transport 2 persons.

new weapon- spartan laser, hard to use but extremely powerful vehicle destroyer apparently

- nail grenade, sticks on walls and emits nails into the air.

new weapon - spiker (brute weapon),

your secondary weapon is visible at all times at your back. (THANK GOD!!!)

New transportation system in multilayer- man cannon, launches you into the air through air streams, you can still be fired at and you can fire back.

The X-button will have a special use which Bungie will not reveal.

No bots will come to H3. that will be all.

Why are you judging a game far from release based on screenshots in a magazine captured with a digital camera? The game has a long while to mature, and I'm sure it will end up stunning us all.

I agree, played it for about two hours, hoping that it would get better and I just uninstalled it.

Man, I never played Halo 1 on a console...I played it on PC, where it originally belonged...and MAN DID IT KICK ASS! I'll probably buy a 360 for this game 🙂
