New gun shoots around corners

I'd like to see the accuracy of the weapon and how it operates before i make a judgement.

Oh! So its an adapter for a pistol with a video camera and it looks like it can be set to shoot straight. COOL.

During WW2, the Germans had 90% barrels that could be used on their 9mm grease guns.
They wore out real fast, they were just a blip on the screen of that theater.

Is this really that useful? I can't imagine so...your field of fire is drastically limited.

Awesome factor: 79%
Effective factor: 18%

I can't imagine a pistol on a an "arm" as being effective enough to make it worthwhile.

In two years we'll see this thing on CS and every nerd will think it's the best thing ever.

the germans didnt have "grease guns" the grease gun was an american weapon. your thinking of the mp40, otherwise known incorrectly as the schmeiser(sp).

No no, it really was a repost! I saw it ages ago here on Anandtech except that dude who posted it got raped for it being another older repost and it's just an attachment, not actually a new gun. So....

I've thought about these for a dog's age and am frankly shocked it's taken so long for somebody to hook up a video camera to a gun :)

Needless to say, without a tripod or something your firing rate will be piss poor because you'll have to reaim to a large degree after each shot.

Ruger made a low velocity machine gun with a bent barrel that did the same thing. Old concept, new technology.

they interviewed the inventor on npr today, so its not a repost. apparentlyu can use other guns like glocks etc with it. will only be sold to police/armies.

kalashnikov made an interesting "curved barrel" machine gun for taking out people who happened to be right next to tanks, and below the deck of the normal machine gun.

it never caught on.

How the fvck are you suppose to aim with this thing? If you want to aim left, you have to pull the gun toward you or push away depending which side of the corner you are on.

This one is different than others because it works with many different pistols, and I read that there's one for M-16 (probably M-4 actually) as well. It's usefulness as a main weapon is suspect, but it is terrific for safely peering around a corner without getting your face blown off.

The Germans did produce a weapon for use around corners and on top of buildings during WWII. I believe it was a modification of a StG-44, also known as the MP43 or MP44, with a bent barrel and a periscope-like sight. It wasn't widely used but apparently was effective.
