Ive tried uninstalling all the old drivers (did the regedit/Hlocalmachine/find 3dfx*.* stuff) and I'm now running 6.31 drivers. Unreal timedemo 1 runs about 15-20fps slower than with my Voodoo3000. Of course, I run it in D3D now, instead of Glide, but somethings gotta be up. Falcon 4 and CFS2 also run slower. What gives?

That's because the Direct3D code for Unreal/UT is slower than Glide -- and you can't use Glide on your GeForce 2 GTS. Try playing DEUS EX sometime; it uses the UT engine and is really slow on GeForce cards.

Ive got the VisionTek card too. I thought, for 152 bucks it was a steal, but now the V5s are $199 or less. Anyway, I dont think the Voodoo would fit very easily in my case, so my decision to go with the GTS was made easier. I know lots of games run great on Glide, but I figured the raw power of the GTS would overtake my V3. Even in D3D games it doesnt seem to compare well. Maybe I shoulda stuck with my V3 until the NV 20 came out. Oh well.

Search the forum for Ben Skywalker's threads about the Loki OpenGL patch for UT.

Allows the game to take advantage of the hires S3TC textures on the other disk, and gives a good framerate boost, which should allow the GTS to easially overtake your V3.

that is odd. is that true for OpenGL games like quake3?

perhaps the old drivers are not completely removed. check to make sure.

I dont have Quake, but Unreal will not run in openGL. I get an error message. How do I get openGL? I see no reference to it in the 6.31 NV drivers.

download loki's openGL dll file, place it in your unreal torunament system folder... you are gonna have to modify UnrealTournament.ini, the instructions are on the download page...
